This is the soap factoory near the Banko River. Here three different kinds of soap are made out of coconuts, cocoa beans, and palm oil. Each variety of soap has a different strength and purpose so, each washer needs to purchase one brick of each soap from the ladies who run the factory.

Each launderer must supply his/her own tire which gets permanently secured in his/her section of the river. The washing is done on this tire against the stones which are secured in the centerof the tire. The launderers only have two days off a year.

After being washed, the clothes are carried to a designated place for each washer where they are spread out on the grass to dry in the sun ... often very close to the expressway
